Harvest Green is unique among master-planned communities in the Houston area. Resident lifestyles at Harvest Green are activated through community farming, wellness programming and generous amounts of community green space. A community recreation center, village farm, parks, and entry monumentation will be completed during the first phase of construction. Collected surface run-off filtrates through a rain garden system that then deposits into the community lake, which doubles as a retention basin for community irrigation. This harmony of social, health, and ecological systems intertwines throughout Harvest Green, forming the foundation for healthy resident lifestyles.
The Village Farm at Harvest Green is an 18-acre site accessible to the community and the greater Houston area, situated at the main entry of the project. This amenity promotes healthy living by providing miles of hiking trails, access to locally grown food, and agriculture-based classes. Several programs were implemented to engage residents in agricultural wellness. Residents can grow vegetables in their backyard, rent a community farm plot, attend classes, and visit the weekly farmers market. The Village Farm integrates food systems into resident lifestyles and reconnects people to productive landscapes. These systems create an awareness of the relationship between food, health, sustainability and the local economy.
