China Beach acts as an amphitheater to take in the drama of the San Francisco Golden Gate: the ebb and flow of the wildlife, currents, tides, winds, fog, sun, surf, and marine traffic. Ultimately, this larger landscape and the landscape features of a refreshed beach terrace will be the defining experience for the visitor to China Beach. We are striving to produce a design that builds on the spirit of the site and creates excitement, wonder, and access for visitors, but that is also implementable, long-term, and highly functional.
Open spaces such as China Beach are where the special aspects of the Bay Area region are to be stored, treasured, and enhanced for the public to enjoy. Our approach will weave together community goals, history, culture, recreational and functional programs, tourism, transportation, accessibility and open space into a cohesive landscape experience unique to China Beach.
Pazhou South Waterfront Park
This four-hectare urban waterfront park is a pilot project in the landscape renovation of Hungpuchong River, setting a high standard for riverfront public space in Guangzhou. Homecrest Playground
Part of the larger Shore Parkway, an 816.1-acre collection of parks that stretches across Brooklyn and Queens, Homecrest Playground originally opened in 1942 with a baseball field, basketball courts, handball courts, and benches for community use. This park redesign focuses on providing different playground and recreation amenities for surrounding residents. This project includes a new ballpark for Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, the surrounding landscape, and surrounding future development parcels, in Hokkaido, Japan.
