On the eastern bank of the Huangpu River, the renovation of Lujiazui Financial Culture Park opens the site’s boundaries, inviting the public into much-needed green space in the densely developed business district. All walls were removed, adding several small entrances and renovating the main entrance to include interactive water features and local species that transform throughout the seasons.

With an accelerated construction schedule (Phase I was completed in five months), the team focused on the renovation’s core principles to keep the design streamlined without sacrificing elevated design. Pedestrian and vehicle movement was separated by introducing an underpass serving the office buildings inside the park. A central lawn, expanded children’s playgrounds and sports fields, a dog run, and converted service buildings increase amenities, inviting visitors to explore the park’s new offerings.
