Peiwen Yu, ASLA, RLA (Texas #2328)
Peiwen has been with SWA for 18 years. She has a strong interest in urban place-making and has personally directed a number of significant, award-winning public projects from concept to implementation.
Peiwen’s professional contributions are realized through her built work: reinvigorating urban parks and waterfronts with culturally enriched storytelling, aesthetics, and a forward-looking social agenda. She is currently design-directing the Shenzhen Longgang River Blueway consortium team, working with a group of international consultants to transform a 21-kilometer-long suburban river with complex flooding and open space issues. Her design projects under construction are located in many regions of the world, ranging from waterfront parks and urban mixed-use developments in Asia to Four Seasons hotels in Mexico and Luxor, Egypt. In addition to her design work, Peiwen has been leading the Asia marketing effort for Houston studio, helping to cultivate junior staff.
During the pandemic, Peiwen enjoyed her experience connecting with Houston’s local clients through several micro-urban renovation projects. Her leadership in elevating urban living in the city through space design implementation at MedEx Pharmacy and Elite Square have been appreciated by clients and has helped local business to reinvent themselves. Peiwen is excited to bring her international design experience to her home city. Outside of work, Peiwen is passionate about painting, reading, and traveling.
