Summer 2025 Promotions

SWA is proud to share the promotion of 13 individuals across our global studios, in recognition of their professional dedication, leadership, and contributions to the firm’s success.
Principals

Daniel Cunningham
San Francisco
An urban placemaker, designer, and project manager based in San Francisco, Daniel has led projects of varying scales and complexity across North America and Asia over his 12 years at SWA. From concept through implementation, his approach is grounded in pragmatic, site-based solutions to broader issues like climate change, regional growth, and community representation in the design process. His projects include The Memorial at Harvey Milk Plaza in San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood; an array of campus upgrades across his alma mater, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; and expansive landscapes across the Universidad de Monterrey at the base of Mexico’s Sierra Madre Mountains.

Jana Wehby, PLA
Los Angeles
Since joining SWA in 2013, Jana has completed award-winning projects for the cities of West Hollywood and Oxnard, The Trust for Public Land, and a range of other public and private clients. She currently manages the studio’s work on the 350-acre Walmart Home Office in Northwest Arkansas, developing socially and ecologically ingrained solutions for one of the firm’s largest corporate campuses; she also managed the San Pedro Waterfront Connectivity Plan, a transformational vision for the Port of Los Angeles released in 2023. Jana earned her Master of Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Trinity University.
Associate Principals

Curtis Neukomm
Laguna Beach
With over 25 years of experience in Southern California, Curtis’ work focuses on master-planned communities as well as commercial, retail, residential, and resort landscape design and construction. A member of SWA’s internal Field Specialist group, he promotes quality landscape documentation and sound construction practices across the studio’s work.

Shaun Loomis
Sausalito
Since joining SWA in 2013, Shaun has become a QA/QC leader in Sausalito, helping teams realize design concepts with precise detailing and material understanding. Working on projects from concept through construction, Shaun plays an important role supervising careful drawing review and rigorous on-site coordination with clients, architects, and contractors.

Ryan McKay
Los Angeles
Ryan has been a driving force in SWA’s Los Angeles office since joining in 2020, established as both a design innovator and community advocate. His approach is fundamentally relationship-based, prioritizing deep engagement with clients and the communities they serve across a range of public realm, educational, and mixed-use projects.

Nick Rael
Los Angeles
Nick developed an appreciation for natural and constructed landscapes through his upbringing in Denver, Colorado. His work at SWA, which includes several corporate and higher education projects, is driven by a wish to create high-quality spaces that positively impact everyday life, benefiting communities beyond a single project’s footprint.
