Alfred DeWitt

Associate Principal

A graduate of UC Davis, Alfred began his professional career in the public realm, working on projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, including campuses, parks, and play areas. After joining the Sausalito studio, Al became heavily involved with work at his alma mater and within the City of Davis—introducing him to large-scale site planning and public process. These opportunities gave him the chance to contribute to the design of different project types, from streetscapes and trail networks to mixed-use retail and recreation centers.

Of great interest to Al is the range of programming and amenities offered in mixed-use projects, and how they have evolved to emphasize multi-generational activities that bring the community together. Al continues to work primarily on domestic projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, including residential developments and civic spaces. In the last few years, his work has expanded into the private sector, with a series of hotel and resort projects. As a Bay Area native, he enjoys being part of the developmental changes he’s seen since childhood, and welcomes the chance to help others create new personal connections to physical spaces and the outdoor environment.
