This winter, SWA is proud to announce the promotion of two new Associate Principals and eight new Associates, in recognition of their professional dedication, leadership, and contributions to the firm’s success.

Associate Principals

Iris Cheng
Shanghai

Iris joined SWA’s Shanghai office in May 2018 as the China Marketing Director. With over a decade of professional experience, she specializes in strategic business development and brings a diversified, experience-driven marketing mindset to the firm. Her goal is to apply her unique and competitive skill set to support SWA in achieving even more outstanding project outcomes. She has contributed to several successful pursuits, including the Tencent Headquarters, Shanghai’s West Bund Financial City, and Shenzhen’s Xili Lake Greenway. She also oversees the SWA WeChat official account, leading content planning and publication in collaboration with her team.

Trent Okumura
Laguna Beach

Specializing in Construction Administration and Field Observation, Trent Okumura is an experienced project manager with a diverse portfolio of local and international work. Trent was part of the Laguna Beach studio from 2005 to 2010 after spending five years in the Los Angeles studio, then took a brief hiatus before returning to Laguna Beach in 2024. While he enjoys contributing to every phase of design, his true passion is transforming great ideas into buildable, high-quality features.
