FEATURED PROJECTS

Ben Waldo

Associate Principal

Ben has been practicing landscape architecture with SWA since 2015, beginning with the San Francisco office before migrating to his hometown Twin Cities (MN) as a satellite office. Prior to landscape architecture, he studied architecture and urban design; his approach is thus both detail-oriented and cognizant of broader environmental, cultural, and economic factors.

Ben’s work has focused on site-scaled domestic projects, with an emphasis on historical restoration and/or culturally sensitive programs. His work includes Sacramento Railyards in California and the Sandy Hook Memorial in Connecticut. As a member of SWA’s research arm, he helped develop the XL Lab Materials Library. He is also a member of the firm’s CAP Taskforce, the goal of which is decarbonization of SWA’s operations and project work. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota, teaching MLA Studio as well as Landscape Materials, Construction Drawing, and Methods for BLA/MLA students.
