FEATURED PROJECTS

Alison Ecker

Associate Principal

Alison joined SWA in 2018 after graduating with dual Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of City Planning degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. She became an Associate in 2020, and an Associate Principal in 2023. While at SWA, she has led various large-scale master planning and entitlement projects. Her experience navigating these challenging and complex projects—particularly in relationship to wildfire—influenced a series of resilient wildfire design research efforts she has led through the XL Lab as well as the summer 2022 student program based in Sausalito. While at UC Berkeley, Alison was a two-time recipient of both the Eisner Prize in Urban Design and the Berkeley Circus design awards. Her master’s thesis analyzing the geographic growth patterns of online distribution centers—and the potential for landscape design to address significant issues on these quickly emerging sites—was the recipient of the Award for Excellence in Landscape Design and the Stephen Lenci Award. Prior to graduate school, she worked professionally in community development in New Orleans and transportation planning in Southeast Asia. She is an American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) and aspires to pursue and lead planning and climate adaptation opportunities with SWA.
