Over one year after breaking ground at 11750 Wilshire Boulevard, signs of construction are now visible above ground for Landmark II apartment tower.

The project, which replaces a Pavilions supermarket, is being developed by Douglas Emmett, Inc.  The 34-story development will feature 376 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments - with 19 reserved as affordable housing - and a 40,000-square-foot landscaped area fronting the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Stoner Avenue.

Designed by Gensler, the tower will rise 349 feet in height.  Renderings depict a glass-and-steel structure lined with horizontal balcony lanes and vertical elements rising to a rooftop cornice.

The tower will be the tallest structure in Los Angeles located west of the 405 Freeway, and is billed by its developer as the first apartment tower in the area in more than 40 years.

At ground-level, the nearly one-acre green space fronting Wilshire will be made accessible to the public.  SWA is designing the park-like space, which will include tables, benches, chairs, water features, pathways, a stage, and a central lawn.

Douglas Emmett will utilize and expand upon existing garage space below street level to provide more than 1,000 parking spaces.

The developer owns numerous surrounding properties, including the abutting Landmark office tower and the Barrington Plaza high-rise complex across Stoner Avenue.
