Strong planting design reinforces auto and pedestrian zones while linking public space

A six-story office building serves as a gateway to the City of Santa Clara’s growing technology area. The Irvine Company developed the spec office park in three phases after the City’s closing and remediation of an adjacent landfill site. Landscape played a substantial role in the development of the site plan, defining the character and structure of the office campus complex. The design team developed a legible hierarchy of spaces for gathering and circulating. Strong planting design reinforces auto and pedestrian circulation in addition to linking and framing public space. Resilient hydrology methods include recycled water for irrigation, local on-site stormwater detention, and low water-use plant materials. Scope of work featured the design of parking areas, pedestrian spaces, and gathering terraces within an office campus environment.
