Rejuvenation of Island Resort
Scope Planning, Landscape Architecture
Size 52 acres
SWA provided site planning and full landscape architectural services for the renovation of the 52-acre Lucayan Beach Resort. The site contained three hotels dating from the 1950’s and the project scope called for two hotels to be renovated, the third to be demolished and replaced by a new high-rise hotel to provide a total of 1300 rooms. The Manor House was developed as an island style home for check in and departure with a spine connector to the hotel sites. Each hotel was designed to have an individual theme and activities with new pool and deck areas, various restaurants, sport bars, food stands, and support facilities. A new casino and additional retail are planned. The client’s main focus on this project was to create high quality outdoor spaces with island style architectural support facilities. The landscape design features local plant materials to draw on the rich character of bright island colors and patterns to “blend” with the local flavor of the Bahama Islands.
