Acre of vegetative roof garden is first of its kind in Southern California

LEED-certified project accentuates progressive nature of production design facility

The Premier Auto Group Headquarters is a corporate campus located on a 20-acre site in the heart of the Irvine Spectrum Center. The campus consists of two buildings: a five-story tower serving as the Administration Headquarters for Ford’s Premier Auto Group and a design studio and production center to be used by Lincoln, Jaguar, Aston Martin Lagonda, and Volvo. The design team worked with many consultants to ensure an environmentally responsible, LEED-certified project. A fuel cell helps power the cafeteria and a raised floor reduces heating and cooling inside the building. Together with the team, SWA designed a vegetated roof garden, nearly an acre covering the production design studio, the first planting of its kind in Southern California. SWA worked closely with Roofscapes, IIC and Wallace Labs to develop the profile, soil, plant material and irrigation for the vegetated area of the roof.
