Natalia Beard Principal, Houston
Natalia Berdyukova-Beard is originally from the Russian Far East and has a background in linguistics and fine arts. Natalia listens first, and then strives to use every tool at her disposal to develop inspiring design at multiple scales. She looks for examples of beauty that are uniquely specific to the life of a community, be it locally in Texas, or worlds away in the Middle East.
While at SWA, she has worked on projects in Texas, Georgia, China and the Middle East. Her art background, broad cultural interests, and travel experiences bring a unique approach to her designs. Outside of SWA, she was involved in research and design projects developed by Rice Building Institute. Her work was featured in “Praxis 10: Urban Matters” at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and the “Counter-Measures” symposium at the University of Texas School of Architecture. She has collaborated with local artists to develop a community website, “Third Ward Speaks,” and was on the design team for Houston’s Metro Solutions Arts in Transit Program.
