Gerdo P Aquino, CEO

"I see my practice as a dynamic mix of landscape architecture and urban design,” says Gerdo, whose work focuses on a variety of urban and suburban infill sites that are under-utilized or abandoned, “yet have the potential to enhance their existing surroundings through creative programming and natural systems integration.” Clients frequently enlist him to assemble fresh, innovative teams where specialization is not only required, but necessary given the complex issues facing contemporary landscape architecture projects around the world. Gerdo has a longstanding interest in Asia: while a student at Harvard, he co-founded the Graduate School of Design’s first Asian student organization, AsiaGSD. He also has extensive experience in the analysis and planning of multi-scaled ecological corridors and repurposed streets and plazas in urbanized areas of North America, China and Latin America.

He recently co-authored a new book entitled “Landscape Infrastructure: Case Studies by SWA” that encompasses much of his current thinking in landscape architecture, professionally and academically.

Interests
